What is Woof?
Woof-A-Palooza is a one mile dog walk to benefit Chatham Animal Rescue and Education, Inc. (CARE). You and your pet will have a howling good time as you enjoy the activities, contests, demonstrations, and refreshments. Available adoptable dogs will be at Woof!!! Why Woof?
All CARE animals are fostered by volunteer foster caregivers. CARE provides both routine medical care such as vaccinations, deworming, and spay/neuter and more extraordinary medical care such as heartworm treatment and special needs operations.

While adoption fees cover much of the very basic medical care, they do not cover additional treatments that some animals require. We count on events like this to help fund the extra needed treatment for animals with special needs. CARE thanks you for your support of this event.

Pittsboro, NC - Chatham Animal Rescue and Education, Inc. (C.A.R.E.) held its 7th Annual Woof-A-Palooza dog walk fundraiser on Saturday, September 27, 2008 in Pittsboro at Central Carolina Community College in Pittsboro. This one-mile dog walk fundraiser raises money to support the expenses of cats and dogs in volunteer foster homes. The animals of C.A.R.E. are rescued from the Chatham County Animal Shelter or the local community and live in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted by a permanent, loving home. Over 100 animal lovers participated on Saturday morning ignoring the threat of rain. Pittsboro Mayor Randy Voller kicked off the event by issuing a Resolution from the Town of Pittsboro declaring Saturday, September 27th, Woof-A-Palooza Day! The Mayor and his wife, Leslie, led the walk with their two beautiful chocolate labs.

The top fundraiser was Laura DeGraff who raised over $1,300, followed by Karen Sirls, then Chay Broadway and Adrienne Kittle. They received gift certificates to The Carolina Brewery & Grill in Pittsboro, The City Tap in Pittsboro and Twig in Chapel Hill.

Pam Fulk, President of C.A.R.E.s board of directors remarked, A big thank you goes out to the friends of C.A.R.E. that came out for the walk. Their financial support makes a huge difference in the lives of animals in Chatham County. Additionally, Karen Sirls and Jennie Boone did a wonderful job leading and organizing this event. Their passion for C.A.R.E. was evident in every aspect of the planning. Thank you to Karen and Jennie for making this the most successful Woof-A-Palooza! Everything was perfect!

C.A.R.E.s corporate sponsors were responsible in large part for the financial success of this critical fundraiser for C.A.R.E. C.A.R.E. would like to thank the sponsors of the event. There were four levels of sponsorship available: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Platinum Sponsor: Wal-Mart Super Center, Siler City. Gold Sponsors: Doggie Spa & Day Care, Godon Construction, Inc., Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc, Hope Crossing Animal Hospital, Pittsboro Animal Hospital and Tim Dittenhoefer. C.A.R.E. has been making a difference in the lives of animals for over 30 years. Chatham Animal Rescue and Education was originally founded in 1975 as Chatham Humane Society. Without the financial support of generous, civic minded corporate sponsors, individual pledges and volunteers, they would not be able to save the lives of animals in Chatham County. Please visit their website at www.chathamanimalrescue.org if you would like more information. Donations can be mailed to C.A.R.E., P.O. Box 610, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
