Bailey is an affectionate girl - she's a snuggle bunny! - with familiar human friends. Bailey has some anxiety around new people and new things, but she soon works through her initial anxiety. She is a real trooper! Bailey requires a bit of patience, but that will be very well rewarded with a loving and loyal companion.

Sex: Female
Weight: 20
Born: June 2019 (0 yrs 3 mos)
Color: Brown

Rita is sweet, loving and affectionate puppy! Rita's favorite activity is giving kisses! Rita also enjoys snuggles, belly rubs and toys! Most of all, Rita adores attention, whether it be from a human companion or furry playmate. Rita enjoys playing with her foster sisters - which consist of another puppy and two medium sized dogs. Rita plays very well and has lots of energy! Rita will do best in a home with another small-medium sized dog to keep her entertained. Any furry siblings would need to have a good temperament and enjoy the presence of another dog, as Rita will want to play and snuggle. Rita is smart and quickly learning basic commands and how to walk on a leash. Rita does well in her crate at night, though she would much prefer to snuggle up near or with someone if they're willing. Rita prefers to get her exercise by performing zoomies around the backyard. Since Rita has lots of energy and loves to run, a home with a fenced in yard is required. Rita currently weighs 8 lbs. and will be a small-medium sized dog when fully grown. Since Rita is small and lively, she will do best in a home where all the family members are over the age of 10.

Rita will receive her second round of vaccines and will need to be spayed before going home.

**Rita is a 4 Paws Dog. Due to this classification, her adoption fee is $275.00.

Ludo is an active 1 year old, a bit goofy at times, and is always looking for some playtime with
his humans or other dogs. Fetch and tug of war are two of Ludo's favorite activities. When not
interacting with others he seems to fully enjoy rolling around on his back, playing with a soft toy
or cuddling with his humans and other dogs in his foster home.
Ludo is a younger pup and needs daily activity and stimulation and would do best in a home with a 6-foot fenced in yard
where his humans are not gone for long periods. All humans in the house should be over 10
years old because Ludo is an energetic doggo still learning how to be a good boy. Ludo is
housebroken and is learning to ring a bell to go outside. He knows several commands already,
and he continues to work on his leash manners. If you're looking for a four legged buddy that
just wants to be with you and go on adventures with you, look no further.

Mickey is an incredibly sweet dog who loves people. He has a wonderful personality and thrives on attention. He walks well on a leash and he loves activity. Mickey would need regular exercise and a fenced (physical, not electronic) yard to play in. He enjoys playing with and retrieving toys. He also does well in a work setting. He gets excited initially and then he settles right down. He would be a lap dog if he could get away with it. In fact, he thinks recliners are a great place to sleep but he is learning that the recliner is for his foster dad and not him. He gets along very well with his foster dog siblings. He is curious about cats but has not shown any signs of aggression toward them. He is crate trained but this would only be necessary upon introduction to a new home. Since coming to his new foster home, he has not been around children but he would probably do very well with kids. Children in the home should still be six or older. Once you meet Mickey, I think you will agree that he is adorable, goofy, and ready to make some family very happy.

Boone is a sweet boy who loves quality time with his humans. He enjoys his evening walks and loves spending time with his canine foster siblings. Boone is very intelligent but will show his independence by performing tasks he knows with extreme slowness; therefore, he will require a family that is willing to continue his training and socialization. He can also be nervous with new people and will do best with an experienced and patient owner willing to help him build confidence.

Since Boone is already a large boy and will be a very large boy when fully grown, he needs a family that has experience with a giant breed and all humans in the home must be at least 12 years old. He would do best in a home where his humans aren't gone for long hours where he will get all the attention he needs to keep him happy and engaged. A fenced-in yard with sturdy, physical fencing is a must and a playmate would absolutely be a plus. Boone would do best in a home that does not have a cat.

Boone is housetrained, walks well on a leash and loves to go on car rides. He does not love the crate, so crate-training is a work in progress. He has been neutered, micro-chipped and is current on all vaccines and preventive medications.

Sex: Male
Weight: 45-55 lbs- adult
Born: July 2018 (1 yr 2 mos)
Color: Black and White

Boomer is a survivor. He came into CARE after being hit by a car and abandoned on the side of the road. He has undergone several surgeries, his hip was dislocated and he had to have several pins placed in his hind leg to help it heal properly. In addition, he also had to undergo surgery to repair an ACL tear that occurred during his accident. Despite his rather bumpy beginning, Boomer is doing wonderfully well at acclimating to the good life, and getting healthy while in foster care. He is an exceptional medium energy puppy who simply adores his humans, and he is very appropriate with other dogs, and dog savvy cats too. He needs another playful dog in the home since he can be a bit shy in new surroundings, all humans need to be 8 years of age or older- and a fenced in yard for him to explore his surroundings safely.

He may have had a bumpy start in life, but this fellow is just happy to have a loving and supportive environment. He will never be a high-impact running companion for his humans- but his energy level isn't such that he'd appreciate that to begin with. Strolls of an even pace, filled with exploration and lots of yummy treats are more Boomers preference- he would do anything for yummy treats and praise. He is crate trained, rides well in the car, and is learning his obedience lessons. Boomer will need a good glucosamine supplement for life, and it is very important that he not be allowed to be overweight. Due to his early trauma, he will always have a bit of a swagger in his step- but this just simply adds to his charm. He has been neutered, micro-chipped, and is up to date on all of his vaccinations and preventative medications. All he needs now is to find his forever family, that will love him for life.

Please come out to the House of Hops in Pittsboro from 1-3pm on 9/21 and meet Boomer. Just click on his name to apply today.

Hey there! I'm Lola!!! I may be tiny, but I have a huge personality. I love giving kisses, I am smart, outgoing, and have lots of energy, I also absolutely LOVE to snuggle and play with toys. Even though I don't like the crate during the day, I am crate and potty trained. I'm great with kids, and I love running around, so a fenced in yard is preferable. I easily socialize with humans, but am looking to become more social with other animals. I am up to date with all of my vaccines and preventative medications. Honeybee is as sweet as she can be! She has an alert, perky personality, which is very endearing. She is outgoing and quick to make friends, both of the human and canine variety. With the former, Honey loves to snuggle closely and with the latter, to play nicely.

Like her namesake, Honeybee happily keeps herself busy. It is such fun to watch her dash about the yard, smelling the flowers and generally exploring. She does so enjoy being out and about!

Honey is happy to be out of the animal shelter and in her foster home, where she enjoys her 7 other canine companions. Still, she is very much looking forward to a home and family of her very own. Because she is a lively explorer, her home must have a securely fenced yard (physical fence). Because she is so sociable and loves human and canine companionship, she will be happiest in a home where the humans are not gone long hours and where there is at least one other dog to keep her company.

Honeybee is up to date on her vaccines and preventative medications. She has been spayed and microchipped.

If you're looking for a lover boy, Paco is your pup. Not only does he love to give kisses, he will also snuggle in your lap. When you're sad, this little guy will put a smile on your face; he is a clown of the dog world, and has a personality that just makes you giggle. Paco gets along well with other dogs and is very submissive. He loves to meet new people, and is very social. He has no problems with children, but would prefer a home where all children are age 8 and up. He is not being fostered in a home with cats, so we are not sure how he will do with permanent feline companions; but during the few occasions he has met kitties, he has been curious but appropriate.

He is crate trained, and trained to ring a bell when he needs to go potty. He enjoys car rides, and great on leash too. He would love a family that isn't gone for long hours, and plans to allow him to join them in all of life's adventures. Paco is up to date on shots and his preventative medications. He has been neutered and microchipped.

Hey Everyone, I am Rupert. I was found wandering the streets and wound up in the shelter. Despite being loud and crowded, I was sweet and my foster mommy knew it. When she came to get me, being on a leash and inside a house was all new to me and I was very scarred. But, once I got a taste of what life should be like, I sure picked up fast and life is good now. I get walks and human, dog and cat play time. I love to lay in my dog bed and chew on my bones or do wind sprints in the backyard. I even got a chance to go swimming in the Haw River. That was so much fun. I have been practicing my leash training and even learned how to sit (I am very treat motivated) and no more accidents in the house. My foster mommy enjoys cuddling with me when I do chill out. I am a super happy boy and full of so much love to give.I will enjoy an active family where I won't be home for long periods of time alone and where I have a fenced in yard. I do well with older children in the house and I am crate trained, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. I am the full package !

Please come to meet Rupert at Woof-a-Palooza, Briar Chapel - Great Meadow Park on Saturday September 21st from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Rupert will also be at the House of Hops in Pittsboro from 1-3pm on 9/21. Please click on his name to apply today.

Wilbur is such a sweet boy, he is always up for a good adventure and he will keep you laughing with his playful antics. He has had a rough start in life, he came into CARE from a hoarding situation where neglect was far too common. However, to see him smile today; you'd never know how dire his circumstances were. This fellow is the life of the party, so he needs an active home that would like him to be included in all of their fun. Due to his affinity for exercise, and in order to keep up his good potty habits, his forever home should have a fenced in yard. He'd love to have another doggy role model in his home, and he is appropriate with kitties too. His mother was a French bulldog and Boston terrier mix, and his father was a Staffordshire bull terrier mix; so it's quite clear where he earned his comical nature.

Since he is such a young pup, Wilbur requires humans who are not gone long hours. He also needs all humans in his home to be 7 years of age, or older. He is up to date on vaccines and preventative medications and he has been neutered and micro-chipped.

Born: February 2019 (0 yrs 7 mos)
Color: White with Tan

  • Special needs

Ono is an incredibly cute, bouncy puppy with an oversized personality in a tiny body. Ono was born
without a tail, the first sign of a birth defect that caused her colon to be detached from her rectum. She
has fully-healed from the surgery to repair the defect but will likely continue to need medication and
dietary management to ensure that she is able to have bowel movements.

Ono is a special-needs puppy. While house training is currently the main goal, because of
the birth defect, her young age and the surgery and healing process, it is hard to know at this time if Ono
will learn to control the structures that were attached during her surgery. Ono will do best in a home
where her people have the time and experience to continue with her house training. In the meantime,
she runs and plays with the other dogs and cats in her foster home, enjoys chew toys, rides in the car,
and cuddling on a warm lap.

To learn more about Atresia Ani, the condition that Ono was born with, as well as more about the surgery that was performed and potential future needs; please visit the link below.

Sex: Female
Weight: 13 lbs
Born: June 2017 (2 yrs 3 mos)
Color: yellow

  • Microchipped
  • Housetrained
Luna came into foster care very pregnant. She has successfully weaned her pups and is now ready to find her forever people. Though she was a wonderful mom, she is excited to start the next chapter of her life- without the worries of caring for babies. We don't have a lot of info about her background, but it is obvious that at some point in her life she has had less than optimal handling experiences with humans. For this reason, she is a bit slow to warm up to new humans and would prefer a life with no small children in the home, and appropriate introductions to visitors and strangers. Once you are in her inner circle, you will be showered with love and affection. She would do best in the home with another dog of her size or larger. She would love a dog to play with, and help her to bridge the gap of hesitance with new people- for this reason- her canine buddy must LOVE humans. She is appropriate with kitties too, but would do best with dog savvy cats.

Luna loves to go for strolls around the neighborhood, she rides very well in the car, and couch and bedtime cuddles are her favorite pastime. She is known to be a bit of a snorer, and occasionally even snorts. Despite these auditory antics, you couldn't find a better bed fellow; this gal is serious about her quality time with humans. You can bet that your mornings will be filled with kisses and playful cuddles, as she rolls around and snorts you into your new day.

Luna's forever home must have a fenced in yard, she loves to sunbathe, and explore; so she needs a safe place to do so. All humans in her forever home must be 12 years of age, or older. She has been spayed and micro-chipped, she is up to date on vaccines and preventative medications. If your home sounds like a match for sweet Luna, please click on her name to apply today.

Eno is a sweet and loving boy looking for his new home. He is curious and playful and loves his walks, but settles down quickly and will impress you with his cuddling skills. He is food motivated, and a quick learner. He gets along well with his small foster siblings and would prefer smaller companion animals in his forever home. He can be nervous at times with new people and will do best with a patient and experienced owner willing to work with him to build his confidence. He would do best with an adult-only family, or one who has much older and mature teens in the home.

Eno is doing well learning basic skills and is crate trained. He entered the CARE system heartworm positive but has been treated and given a clean bill of health. He would prefer a safe, fenced in secure yard in his forever home; since he loves to burn off some energy by exploring, and he does best with his house-training with the freedom of off-leash capabilities. He would love a family that is willing to continue his training and socialization.

He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines.

This beautiful Husky had a rocky start in life that left her nearly feral. After months on the run she was finally caught by concerned people in the neighborhood. With professional training Girl has come a long way. She takes a minute to warm up to new people, but once she does her silly side comes out and she is soon puppy bowing and wanting to play. Girl gets along with other dogs, but since she is a Husky, caution should be applied when around small dogs, cats, and other small animals.

Girl requires a responsible home where doors will not be accidentally left open and with a yard with a fence she can't jump.
