Lily is doing well. She adapted quickly to life in our home. She is high energy and likes to take long walks on the trails in our neighborhood. We’re working on socializing her to all the new the sights and sounds. It’s a work in progress, but she has made great strides in a short period of time: she almost tolerates the geese at our pond! We brought her to our veterinarian today for an initial checkup. She was given a clean bill of health.
Happy Endings
Beans makes life better!
We adopted Beans mid-November of 2019 and we are so grateful. She is a wonderful dog. She is smart and eager to learn. She likes every person and every dog she meets and always seems to be in a good mood. Having her in the house helps keep all the rest of us happy too.
Dulcie
My husband, Thom, and I adopted Dulcie about 7 weeks ago. She is a great addition to our furry family! Dottie and Scooter (both adopted from CARE) welcomed Dulcie into the pack right away which helped her to settle into our family routine quickly. She is such a smart girl! Dulcie loves to cuddle with Thom and me but can be found snuggling with her new canine siblings often. We love us some Dulcie!!
CARE made the adoption process easy (as always) and were very helpful in making sure Dulcie was a good fit for our family.
Minnie
We adopted Minnie into our family and she has been a perfect match. Couldn’t imagine life without her!
Our Home is Complete
Our Gracie came to us about a month ago. She has filled our lives with so much joy. We love to watch her “get” her crazies out and chase her toys. She is funny, loveable, and beautiful. We love our evenings when she lies between us on the couch to watch TV. She loves to sit on her kitty condo by the window to watch the birds on the feeders and enjoy the sunshine.
We are so blessed and thankful to have Gracie in our lives. We are planning a trip to Greece in April and I am already missing her.
Enjoy her pictures. I take at least one every day.
Our Fig
When we met up with Fig and a sibling m, he instantly chose us! We have been enjoying watching him grow (see Clifford the Big Red Dog book one for a sample of our amazement). He’s got the warmest eyes and we also just love his soft and scratchy paws . He starts school at Cheery Dogs this week and we are looking forward to building on his sweet disposition and the excellent head-start that his foster mom, Carly gave him. It was so nice to first welcome him with his head-start on “sit” and adjusted to being in a crate and even some housebreaking! ❤️Many thanks!
Miles Davis joins the Hornik ensemble
We adopted Miles Davis in early January, and he fit right in. In late-2019, we noticed that our adult cat, Voodoo, seemed more needy than usual. So we began looking for a friend for her. We met a handful of kittens but, when we held Miles for the first time, we knew that he was the one. A week or so later, he was home. Miles is in the process of establishing himself as the King of the Castle, which is no small feat with a Black Lab and a German Shorthair Pointer for big brothers. He loves to cause mischief and ambush his big sister, Voodoo, when she least expects it. All-in-all, Miles seems to be right at home, and we couldn’t be happier!
Joey & Chandler
I found my dream kitty- Chandler on petfinder and had my heart set on adopting him. Patti from CARE was amazing in accommodating my schedule as a nurse (as I work 12 hours) and met me after my shift with Chandler and his brother Joey, who was also available. When I went to meet Chandler I had no intention in adopting two kittens. Patti subtly implanted the idea that the two kittens may to better together. I was hesitant at first, but I did my own research and ended up adopting them together. Now, I couldn’t be more grateful I adopted the pair together! They are the greatest kitties I could ask for! They play together all the time and entertain themselves when I’m not around. Thank you CARE and Patti for allowing me to bring home two new family members!
