In early August I lost my 17-year-old Pumpkin—the cat of a lifetime. A few weeks later I was starting to look at rescue sites, searching for a longer-haired female like Pumpkin. A friend who’d been involved with CARE checked with another CARE volunteer, who sent photos of this wonderful bonded pair, owner-surrendered, probably related, and somewhere between 1 and 2 years old. Then minutes later I was told that the cats were scheduled for transfer the following day to the Humane Society of Charlotte, without a way to halt the move. Well! The information supplied by CARE was so positive, as well as Cinnamon’s gorgeousness, that I followed up with Charlotte Humane and was lucky enough to get both cats on August 24. Both Cinnamon and Nutmeg are extroverted (new for me), very attached to each other, affectionate, playful and energetic, and wonderful in all ways. Their cat sitter threatened to kidnap them while I was away on a recent trip (just kidding, and they love her back). So thankful to have made the leap to my next wonderful generation of cats, thanks to Pumpkin and the good people at CARE.
